10 Guidelines for Vital Women’s Health

Women are the nurturers, but we have to first “put the oxygen mask on yourself”. Here are some key guidelines for living vitally.

HEALTH

Paleomeal by Designs for Health
Whey protein powder to support your body’s health and metabolism; low in sugar with factors to increase immunity and digestion.

Paleogreens by Designs for Health
A great tasting powder of organic greens, teas, and berries; rich in vitamins, anti-oxidants, and de-toxifiers. Mix paleomeal (1 tbls.) and paleogreens (1 tsp.) into your smoothie to give your body strong nutrition.

Lunch

Should be your biggest meal of the day; your digestive fire is strongest. Drink one-half your body weight each day in room temperature water (with lemon, if you can) to keep this digestive fire strong. If you need to, stimulate your digestion with Ginger Root Tea before each meal. Trikatu (by Banyan Botanicals), which contains ginger, black pepper and long pepper can also be used to stimulate digestion before eating.

Pro EFA (Essential Fatty Acids) or Artic Cod Liver Oil by Nordic Naturals
Omega-3 oils; essential fatty acids. “Good” fats are a required part of our nutrition. Necessary for sharp memory (cognition), a healthy circulation system, reducing inflammation, hydrating our cells and glowing skin. Take 5 capsules a day; or two teaspoon of cod liver oil a day.

Calcium/Magnesium by Mega Foods
500 mg of magnesium is needed each day by our body. Foods that contain magnesium (such as wheat germ, soy products) are often not a large part of our diet. Supplements are best absorbed as food; for this reason we recommend Mega Foods whole foods supplements. Take 3 to 6 capsules a day of theirCal/Mag Essentials. We also carry a range of their multiple vitamins.

HERBS

Ashwagandha by Banyan Botanicals
Tonifies the hormonal system, increases energy, reduces stress, and enhances calmness; it gives us energy during the day and calms our nervous system so that we can sleep at night. Take 2 capsules in the morning and 2 at night.

Peri-menopause/Menopause Essential Oil Protocal
Apply geranium and clary sage essential oils by Wisdom of the Earth to your abdominal region in morning (after shower) and at night. Sage is cooling to our hormonal system; while geranium helps us recover from exhaustion and supports our adrenal glands.

Develop an herbal/nutritional protocol that is specific to you. Come meet with one of us to discuss what herbs would be best for you. Some to consider are Shatavari (a female hormonal tonic), Black Cohosh (relieves pre-menstrual depression), Eleuthero or Milky Oats (to soothe nerves), Lemon Balm/St. Johnswort (to soothe seasonal depression)

HAPPINESS

Sesame Oil by Avena Botanicals or Mountain Rose
Give yourself a self-massage with Sesame Oil before each shower. Soothing to your nervous system, this massage with move your lymph (the cleansing system of your body) and remove toxins (when you shower it away). You can also put pure organic sesame oil at the tip of your nostrils to prevent sinus dryness and its related problems all winter long.

Breathe (Prana) Each morning after your shower take time to breath deeply, through your nostrils. An excellent technique is alternate side of the nostril breathing, which is detailed in our Summer 2005 newsletter.

Although these herbs are safe for most people, we advise that you consult with us
or your holistic health practitioner. Some can interact with other medications; others
are ill-advised with certain allergic conditions. Before putting anything in you body,
understand what is right for you based on your health history.
Listen to your body's wisdom.
